Things you should know

* WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE ARE
At Can Canaleta, we have our own way of doing and understanding life, and we want to share it with you. This is a house open to everyone, regardless of race, creed, and/or sexual orientation. No discrimination is welcome. Of course, it is necessary to have rules and routines to ensure that everything works as it should. This is not a five-star hotel, but it is a luxury in itself. And it is because of the place, the environment, the space, the silence, and the sounds. We ask you not to bring to the mountain everything we escape from in the city. We have a serious commitment to the environment, which is why we recycle waste, reuse materials, filter and treat gray water, take oil to the collection center, and both heating and hot water come from burning biomass and the underbrush we collect. In the garden, only well water, our own compost, and no chemical fertilizers or pesticides... and you can tell! Because we are what we eat.

*HOW TO ARRIVE WELL (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
If you use GPS or a navigator to get there, DO NOT SET "CAN CANALETA" AS YOUR FINAL DESTINATION!!! Indicate "Parque de San Salvador." Once you arrive at the Park, you must enter by crossing the iron bridge and follow this path for 7km. At the end of the park, the road becomes an UNPAVED forest track accessible for cars. We are aware that an unpaved road is not as comfortable as a conventional road, but please keep in mind that it is the price to pay to enjoy a space of silence in the heart of nature.

* TOURIST INFORMATION
Whether you want to go on excursions or need recommendations for restaurants, shops, etc., we will be happy to advise you.

* WI-FI
- Free high-speed satellite Wi-Fi service.

* MOBILE COVERAGE
- Due to the location of the house, the mobile phone company that offers the best coverage is Movistar.

* CREDIT CARDS
We do not accept credit cards, sorry for the inconvenience. Payments can be made in cash, or bank transfer

. * FIRE
- It is strictly prohibited to light fires, use fireworks, throw cigarettes, and dispose of any type of trash. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!

* MOTOR VEHICLES AND PARKING
- Since we believe that silence is music, we have banned the circulation of motor vehicles throughout the property. Quads and motorcycles are not allowed, and the only vehicular traffic is reserved for guests arriving at or departing from the house. To avoid noise, we have designated a parking space next to the house, so cars do not pass in front of where you are staying. Since it is hidden by the trees, we also avoid the visual impact on the landscape.

* MOVIES
We have over 300 DVD movies at your service that you can watch in your room completely free of charge

. * PETS
"Unfortunately, and although we love them, we cannot accept pets in the house because we have free-range animals (chickens and lambs)

. * OTHER ANIMALS
- Flies, bees, mosquitoes, ants, different smells from the usual ones, were already in the Garden of Eden..... and at Can Canaleta too. Welcome to real nature!

* MEALS
- All meals, whether indoors (winter) or outdoors (summer), are served at a long table shared with other guests. Since we do not have a restaurant, our dinner service is a fixed menu based on local and our own products, and our cuisine is 100% homemade. If you are interested, it is necessary to book the dinner service at least 3 days before your arrival. If you have any special needs (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.), please let us know when booking this service

. * BAR SERVICE
Beers, soft drinks, vermouth, homemade liqueurs, Port wine... We also offer you a selection of the best brands of whiskey, gin, rum, and vodka. Please ask us.

* SMOKING
- Smoking is not allowed in any indoor areas of the house. Please always use the water ashtrays you will find in the garden.

* POOL
- Our pool is saltwater, with no added chemicals, and lined with wood. It operates from June to October (depending on weather conditions and temperature, the pool season may be longer or shorter). We can provide you with pool towels, please do not use bathroom towels outside of the room. We recommend a nighttime bath with millions of stars as your only roof. It's a whole experience!

*SOLARIUM -You can enjoy different areas to sunbathe with incredible views. We have sunscreen and after-sun lotion available for you completely free of charge.

WHAT YOU WILL FIND

On the ground floor, you will find the reception area with the old wine press, the dining room, and the store selling our own products. Also, the bread oven and the old floor-level kitchen that we always keep lit when the cold sets in. It's a pleasure, we assure you. At reception, you will find maps and information about the area, as well as addresses of some establishments we recommend for their service, quality, and products, whether they are grocery stores, bakeries, cafes, or restaurants. On the first floor, you will find the rooms.

En la planta baja se encuentra el recibidor con la antigua prensa de vino, el comedor y la tienda de productos propios. También el horno de pan y la antigua cocina de fuego en el suelo que siempre mantenemos encendida cuando el frío aprieta. Es un placer, os lo aseguramos.
En recepción encontrarás mapas e información de la zona además de direcciones de algunos establecimientos que recomendamos por su atención, calidad y por sus productos, ya sean tiendas de alimentación, pastelerías, cafés o restaurantes.

THE rooms

We have a maximum capacity for 10 people distributed across 3 rooms. This allows us to offer you an extremely personalized service and avoid crowds.

* Room No. 2:

It consists of a double bed (1.50x1.90m) and a single bed (0.90x1.90m). Room No. 2: It consists of a double bed (1.50x1.90m) and a single bed (0.90x1.90m). It can be occupied by one, two, or three people and has a full bathroom, a 22" flat-screen TV with USB and radio channels, a DVD player, gel and shampoo, a hairdryer, and excellent water from our well. This room has an added charm: its private terrace with spectacular views and direct and exclusive access from the room itself.

* Room 3:
Spacious, comfortable, cozy... For one, two, or three people, full bathroom, 24" flat-screen TV with USB and radio channels, and DVD player. It consists of a bed of 1.50x1.90m and another of 0.90x1.90m, bath gel and shampoo, hairdryer, and excellent water from our well.

* Room No. 4:
Ideal for four people, with a 1.50x1.90m bed and two 0.90x1.90m beds. It can be perfectly occupied by two couples or by a couple with children since it consists of two interconnected but separate rooms, like two completely independent rooms. Each one has its own flat-screen TV (32" and 22") with USB and radio channels, and a DVD player. Complete bathroom for the four occupants, shower gel and shampoo, hairdryer, and excellent water from our well.

The food

The breakfast is buffet-style and you will find everything you need to start a day full of activities. The cold cuts are 100% natural and the homemade jams will make you discover flavors from the past. Enjoy the cheeses, fresh fruit, honey from Santa Coloma de Farners, cereals and chocolate, cookies, and croissants. The coffee and more than 12 types of teas and infusions will help you start the day. If you need more protein, we offer eggs from our hens, collected daily: fried eggs, omelette, scrambled eggs, or poached eggs (supplement €5). At Can Canaleta, we do not have a restaurant and only cook specifically for our guests. Therefore, it is necessary to book dinner at least three days in advance of your arrival. Dinners consist of a starter, a first course, a second course, dessert, water, white and red wine, bread, coffee, and infusions. We always vary the dishes and make a single fixed menu for everyone, which we serve at a long shared table with the other guests at 9:00 PM. We adapt to seasonal products, taking into account nutritional quality, local and km0 products. Evidently, we will try to offer you an alternative in case any of the dishes are not to your liking or if you have any allergies and/or intolerances (please notify us in advance). We don't serve meals, but if you need to go on an excursion, we offer a picnic service to take away. Supplement in the pricing section. You have access to free service of fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and cookies 24/7.

Activities

AT HOME

Apart from the leisure area, where you can find various board games, a library, etc. You can also participate in the activities typical of a farmhouse: working in the garden, harvesting forest fruits to make jams, feeding the chickens and lambs, helping us collect the eggs from our chickens. Relaxing in the sun or taking a dip in our saltwater pool, or simply enjoying the scenery accompanied by the song of the birds.

The Sant Salvador park is a delight of outdoor space. Formed by more than a thousand trees, mostly plane trees, it follows the course of the Santa Coloma stream, which can be easily accessed from all parts of the park. It is also located right at the foot of the Guilleries, and is the access point to the castle and the hermitage of Farners, among other points of cultural and natural interest in the locality. The park, in addition to being a magnificent recreational space, is also known for being a great promenade, which connects the Picant fountain and the Sant Salvador fountain, and continues to the Termes Orion Spa on one side, and to the Vilà gorge on the other. At any time, we will find Colomenses going for a walk, a hike, or a run. Also to fetch water, to dip their feet in the stream, to take a bike ride, to play petanque, or to play with the children in the playground area. Moreover, it is the starting point for numerous hiking and mountain biking or leisurely cycling routes. It is a place very dear to the inhabitants of Santa Coloma; it is beautiful during all seasons of the year, especially in autumn, but also in spring, when everything blooms, or in summer, when one can take advantage of the coolness of its shade. It is easily accessible and all ages are good for enjoying the Sant Salvador park, whether alone, with friends, family, or with the little ones at home. Moreover, it is a venue for various events, such as the stalls at the Fiesta Mayor or the Bread with Tomato Fair, and the starting point for sports events like the Ratafia Race. For all these reasons, Santa Coloma considers this fantastic space a monument, and it is cataloged as such. If you come to Santa Coloma, don't miss the Sant Salvador park, and you'll surely come back. Practical info: it is open to visit all year round. The Grandfather Rock and the Dolphin Rock
On the way to Can Canaleta, you will be able to observe a bunch of rock formations, some really curious, like the grandfather rock and the dolphin rock.

Weekly Markets
Currently, Santa Coloma de Farners hosts two weekly markets: on Monday mornings at Plaza Farners and on Saturday mornings at Plaza del Firal.

Pilgrim's Festival
Every January 20th, hundreds of walkers accompany the Peregrino Father from Tossa de Mar on his journey to the church of San Sebastián in Santa Coloma de Farners, fulfilling the vow that the coastal town made in the 16th century to rid itself of the plague. It is tradition for the pilgrims to distribute shells upon their arrival in Santa Coloma, once the sun has set. Tradition also dictates eating snails and San Sebastián cake, as well as the sticky candies that are only found on this day. The next morning, Father Peregrino and his companions set off on the journey back to Tossa to announce that the vow has been fulfilled once again.

The Reapers' Revolt

With this event, we aim to remember the historical events that took place in the spring of 1640 in our town and our region, when the people rose up against the forces of Philip IV and the Count-Duke of Olivares, which led to the Reaper's Revolt. From the Casal Popular Independentista La Sega 1640 in Santa Coloma de Farners, founded in 2005, this "popular festival" is organized with the aim of giving visibility to Catalan culture, land, traditions, and historical memory. The day consists of educational and informative activities (talks, debates, exhibitions...), and recreational activities (children's games, historical reenactments, concerts, communal dinner...). Activities such as the Correfoc, which commemorates the burning of all the houses in the village on May 14, 1640; a theatrical guided tour through the center of the village, exploring the corners marked by the Revolta dels Segadors; and historical reenactments depicting the arrival of the Tercios, the Time of Rebellion, period clothing, and the trial of bandits, among others, are highlighted.
